About JY6

The Jorgen Yde (JY6) Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity that raises awareness and funding for pediatric cancer research and leukemia research. Our vision is to support pediatric cancer research that provides better treatments and leads to cures for leukemia and all pediatric cancers.

The only request that Jorgen Yde, the namesake of the foundation, ever made was for someone to find a cure for cancer. Before Jorgen passed away, he was asked how he wanted to be remembered and how we could carry on his legacy. He told his family that he wanted them to help find a cure for leukemia and other childhood cancers. Jorgen prayed and hoped that one day there would be a cure for all cancers.

Jorgen also prayed that the kids and families who were affected by pediatric cancer would have the support that his family and friends gave him. Mostly he wanted to repay the love, kindness and generosity of his family, friends, nurses and doctors who went through this fight with him.

In order to fulfill Jorgen’s wishes, his family decided to start a foundation that would help fund pediatric cancer research. In 2011 on Jorgen’s birth date, August 23rd, the JY6 Foundation filed for its articles of incorporation and for non-profit status as a 501 (C) (3) with the Internal Revenue Service with a simple mission:

Provide funding to recognized non profit organizations committed to finding a cure for pediatric cancers, furthering the education of leukemia and pediatric cancer, fund those 501(c)(3) entities that care for leukemia and children cancer patients, and furthering the understanding of the disease.

Thank you for your support in keeping Jorgen’s prayers and spirit alive in this journey.
